Hi new to the forum.
Just bought a 97(Lariet) in great shape inside and out.
It has 87000 miles on it. I decided to replace my shocks (not a good idea)
I had a rough time breaking the top nut loose so only did the back last night.
The old shocks I took off were still good shape in fact they were stonger than the new(cheap) Monroe gasmatics. After busted nuckles and alot of cussing. I was able to get the back done. Any problems with putting the fronts on? I hope they are easier. My problem was with the top nut, the shock spinning while taking the nut off. I had to grind down the shaft to put a wrench on it to hold it to get the top nut off. Both nuts were rusted and broke.
Thanks ahead of time.
The lower bolt on the fronts also has a tab molded into it so you don't need to put a wrench on the back side it catches by itself. I think Ford used all its good engineering on the front and gave up on the **** poor rear design. I usually cut the backs out because the nut just won't come off.

I agree...It's hard to reach and nothing to grab to stop the the shock from spinning. Lxman1...onthe new ones there is on the old ones there is nothing.
thanks again guys gonna do the front tonight.
