Wood grain dash insert/glove box insert

Okay, so I've got a question about the insert that goes around the glove box compartment.

What types of trucks had those come with them? Lariat? XLT? Custom?

If I "didn't" have this with my truck, how badly would it look on me if I labelled my truck as whatever model it is that comes with it, but mine doesn't have it?

I'm just wondering if I should try to get my hands on a dash that has that already placed in it or not.

I'm not a big fan of the wood grain around the glove box, but I am a fan of the other wood grain trim.

If I can get away without having it, I'd leave it the way it was (without it).

my78 bronco is a custom it doesn't have the wood around the glovebox but does have it on the glove box lid and i added it on the cluster panel and i just recently bought two sets of oem woodgrain door panel inserts to give it that nice look, but if you like it without it but the rest has it do it up its your truck.

My truck is a Ranger XLT and it came with the wood grain dash bezel, glove box surround, glove box door panel, steering wheel pad and the vinyl padded door panel inserts.

Aside from the the door panel inserts, you can get everything else new. I think the new aftermarket glove box surrounds stick to the dash so you don't need the holes for mounting. The original surround needed holes around the glove box to mount.

It's up to you if you want to label your truck the way you want. Many people would say to label your truck as it was original, others would say do what you want. I personally would do what you thinks looks good. My truck came with wood grain and the only thing I liked about the wood grain is the steering wheel and glove box door panel. My dash bezel and glove box surround is black/chrome, not wood grain. I kept my Ranger XLT badging.

Smile My Two Cents

My '77 F150 Custom didn't have any of it - just the black and chrome gauge panel. I recently upgraded to the woodgrain gauge panel and have the glove box panel ready to install. I ordered the piece that goes around the glove box from LMC, but it's on back order. Since my truck was sooo plain, I wanted to make it nicer and the new parts certainly do that. Actually I redid the whole thing - new paint, new carpet, new seat foam and seat upholstery. Replaced my AM mono radio with a RetroSound unit and added 4 speakers - two in the original door locations and two in a custom mount behind the seat. I'll post some pictures as soon as my piece comes in from LMC and I get it installed.

I have the stick-on wood grain piece that goes on the glove box door if anyone needs one.

The bezel that goes around the glove box has plastic studs for stamped nuts just cut them off and use a good quailty double sided tape like 3M and you won't have to drill holes. The woodgrain is a nice touch!

Everything he said but this: my Ranger XLT did not come with the glove box insert, but it does have the surround. Woodgrain is on the dash surround, horn button, and glove box suround, vinyl inserts on the doors that i will keep. Just an "oh, btw" my truck also had a set of map pockets on the doors. I guess i will have to fab and recover/remake them myself or have local shop do them. i havent seen them in any catalog as yet. The catalogs are real good on carpet on the bottom of the doors, but mine has the map pockets.

I know this is an old thread but anyway... The bezels could be either black plastic with wood grain or chromed metal with woodgrain, just FYI...
