imt ford trucks

i have a couple ford f350 that have 6.9idi 420 cid engines iwoa tool and mold converted them into road service tire truck riged them up with different kinds of air compressiors under the hood 18 cfm 100psi and they also made some that had really large air compreesiors that run off pto shafts im thinking there around 35 cfm at 100 psi here in the midwest part of usa they where hot items at 1 time

There was someone that rigged up a Saginaw a/c compressor and built a bracket to piggy back the factory a/c compressor off of it.

One day I'd like to do this, for now I have an in bed air compressor that handles everything I need it to. But I'd sure love the bed space back.

air compessior

ive seen many different comperrsior set ups but the ones i like the best are under the hood and i think any compressior could be done that way if the pullys speed was right and you have the whole bed for other things to do butiowa tool and mold make some of the best water cooled 0950 are still my fav there big enough to run 1 in drive impacks or blow up a tractor tire and the thing is there all over the us you can find them in junk yard there rebuildable just becarefull on the truck part most of them are worn out but the componites are still usable ty for your reply

lonewolf im 6.9mike am here to learn about 6.9 idi engines trying to find out if i can use a FV1 selector on the return rail line back of motor on right side to put in either to run a loop or run backto tank 2 so i dont over flow tank 1 the reason for looping is to keep the fuel good and hot or{warm} i dont have enough fuel heat threw the filter head to go up into canada or alaska at certain times of the year im useing 50 gallon refgeration trailer tank DURA CRAFT i have laying around for fuel tanks and im not finacialy able to buy them artic fox fuel tank heaters

I understand ... so right now you are just using an FV1 3 port valve by the tank to select the supply ... so there is no reason that you can't use a 2nd FV1 on the Return Lines and then run the return any way you want.

IF you want heat on the Tanks I would think one could use Silicone Heater Pads as those are pretty Cheap (cheap being subjective of course) you would want to use controllers with a Thermistor Feedback for safety reasons ..... and the problem with using 12V Pads is current draw would be very High.... 'course I'm from the old days where they used to build fires under the tractor to start em

The dying issue is probably governor slack related if it runs okay otherwise and you don't have starting issues after its been sitting.

You can try pulling the fuel filter and filling it up with either atf or diesel klean (don't use seafoam or any other water based cleaners) and them start it, let it idle for thirty seconds to a minute and then shut it down. Let it sit a day or more if it's not pressing and it'll help clean out that ip and injectors.

If that doesn't fix it there's a torx stud on the back of the ip coming out straight back just a hair above where the lines sit, you can back off the nut and turn it in 1/4 turn at a time until it stops. This will cause the idle to slightly raise and you can readjust it if needed by the flat head screw on the throttle shaft.

If you can post a pic or a link to that compressor it would be Interesting to see how it's mounted and such.

If you truck is five speed it's a zf5

Spicer 5 speeds were pretty darn tough and another brand of that era was Clark 5 speeds that were also bulletproof. Both were an era before your truck.

If you do have a Spicer 5 speed I would love to know how they adapted that to your engine as its a sae2 bellhousing pattern iirc

An adapter plate and flywheel off an s series international with the idi would fit the bill nicely

i know for a fact the 194 maybe 1992 is diffently a spicer in 2007 i had to take it to a guy by wellington ks and he totally went thru the whole transmission he cut new gears and al if i remember right it was quit expensive my wife was alive and she thru a hissy fit over that 1 but it was .50 % of a new tranny and i think that has a 7.3 in it i bought that tire truck only cause in the 90s i work for the tire company and that was the truck i used i took care of 120 trash trucks every knight except saturday it was not uncommon to mount 100 tires a night for BFi trash serviCE that was hard *** work needless to say i only worked there 1 spring threw fall i bought it for my stepson acctually but as normal he didnt do squat with it he was pose to pay for it he never did so i just took it back i got lucky on that deal i never transfered the title but it defintly is a spicer 5 speed and its the smoothist shifting truck you could ever drive that truck has a champion compressior on it runs off a pto shaft and it will pump 150 psi in a 20 gallon tank in less than 2 minutes its bad *** the 86 has a 30 gallon tank on it and it take 5 minutes to fill it with 140 psi but its only .50 of the speed but you can use 2 1in drive impacts on it so thats not to bad its water cooled to boot you have to raise the hood for it to even pump theres a mercury switch that runs that so if its up it goes if not it wont pump its like what coops in kansas used for service truck its a super long bed there both made by iowa tool and mold if i can get someone with a phone over here ill take some picks they were the stuff wen they was first made for service trucks

yes i have cranked up the rpm and pump some earthmover tires up from 0 to 30 psi in tire in less than 8 minutes you can got google and check out iowa tool and mold and see just how much they will pump the under the hood cmpressior is 30 percent less then the 1 that runs off the drive shaft but i have run 2 inch drive impact on the under the hood truck at the sametime that around 22 cfm at 100 psi each thats raising the idea to 12rpms these blow a line they can really hurt you bad there not toys kinda dangerious if you dont know wat your doing people have been killed by them wen lines explode you have to shut them down in a hurry
