Boy there sure are a lot of new users on this site and others who ask a question about things and apparently never wait for the answer. I see lots of you knowledgeable guys posting charts or pictures, etc. but the OP seems to never even come back on to check if anyone has replied to his question. Seems kinda rude. I always browse thru the site and open threads that seem interesting to me and many times see great answers with no responses from the opening poster. Must be kinda frustrating to you good guys who try to help...
Sign of the times we now live in. Brought to you by generations of instant gratification and that someone else should do that for me, that they are I'm entitled to. (Blame us, the patents?)
Very noticeable on face book (aka "its all about me") car related forums. Many false and misleading comments that are ignored if corrected and immediately forgotten.
Makes one wonder if the current political situation has any influence?
My two part solution, 1: I was having road rage issues until I realised it was me, I can not change or fix all the bad drivers in the world (or lazy site posters) And 2: I think twice now before replying to posts.
Not good, but it is what it is, the only good thing is that todays younger generation will eventually become parents and have to deal with the next generation.

I feel the same way but the good news is even though the new poster didn't acknowledge the answer, others like me are watching these threads and learning.

It's probably the other way around. The instant gratification movement has influenced the political environment.
I have learned so much hear, so when I give out information I look at it as a payback for all the help I have received. I also post in the hopes that the next person coming along will have easier access to information to help them get the answers they need.
But, it sure is nice when someone closes the loop on a thread. It helps everyone when you do.
Makes me wonder if it's not only the "instant gratification" mindset, but also the entitled mindset. Do they think they deserve the answer just by posting? Lots of the younger generation doesn't understand or appreciate manners... Please, thank you, excuse me, etc... Maybe they read the replies, just don't bother to respond.
I don't post here often or answer questions much, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but...
While I'm sure there is some generational differences going on here, I also have noticed over time that people who are good at communicating, or at least able to learn how to communicate reasonably well online, tended to be the folks who joined sites like this early on. Since then, there have been a kagillion different apps and devices that allow even the least tech savvy/laziest posters to get online. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if many of the inconsiderate folks who don't follow up with at least a thanks come from all different age brackets.
Consider too that hardly any young folks are getting into this hobby anyhow!
My Mom and Dad, and to some extent other authority figures, taught me to respect others and to have good manners. If today's young people are lacking in these graces, I'd say it is because they were never taught. I guess all we can do as forum members is to personally model the kinds of behaviors we wish everyone else would have.
I was going to reply to this post but everyone all ready answered so I don't need to . HA HA I would be surprised if the op's aren't reading the replies it's just a result of mass texting , tweeting etc. When texting I tell my wife not to send Ok's or equivalent so I don't have another text to open . I very much doubt it's a case of deliberate thoughtfull snubbing , just a sign of the times . But I do agree it does seem to be more common .
Sometimes people don't like the answer they get, so they ask the same question somewhere else expecting or at least hoping to get a different one. It's a variation on the "If Mom says no, ask Dad" I guess.

This is called "being an askhole". Shopping around for validation of a decision they've already made, or asking until they get the answer they like.

Niiice.... I'm gonna use this one!
And don't forget all the first timers that realize they are in way over their heads shortly after getting their truck, and get rid of it, or stuff it behind their garage. Not a lot of incentive for them to respond to posted answers once they're out of the hobby...
