HELP!!!
I just bought a 1996 Explorer XLT. When I put on the headlights the dash doesnt light up. Also the other things that should be lighting up when I put the headlights on are not. (like the radio controls, light ring around cig lighter etc..) Any ideas?
yup..they all work when the lights are on. One thing I did just find out is that when I turn the headlights on the o/d light and the 4x4 light on the dash don't light up(but they both still work fine)
I've had some of the same trouble... my radio lights, console lights, and others... My instrument cluster lights work but most others don't. I noticed as they were becoming unreliable that i could bump the h/l switch and sometimes some would come on. I have always figured that it was the h/l switch but just didn't bother to fix it.
Still havent been able to find any used switches and I dont want to buy new ones from ford without knowing if thats it or not. Anyone know of a way to test the headlight/dimmer switches?
Ok..picked up the h/l switch at autozone and no luck. It ended up being the dimmer switch. Wasnt sending the power through i guess. Couldnt find a working used one and ford wanted $130 for a new one. I bypassed the dimmer and everything is working now.
