Would the Idle Validation Switch throw a code?
Finally on the third one, the Service Engine Soon light came on.
Last fall, I had the IVS flake out. Truck would start and run perfectly, but no response from gas pedal. I took the pedal apart, cleaned it and used a wire brush some, and re-installed the same one and problem went away.
I bought an extra pedal at a junkyard, and my first thought was to now swap that one in.
But now with a brand new code stored, I wonder if an IVS issue would throw one?
I can’t pull the code until late afternoon.
Knowing the exact codes was a big help.
So far that IVS problem I ran into last Fall was one of the simpler fixes I have ever done on a vehicle.
But with a new round of IVS trouble a looming possibility, that was my first hope/thought out in the woods the other day.
It took a minute to get some codes out - ODBII scanners have never liked my truck. Turns out, fuse #3 was blown, again - it runs just the cigarette lighter (so I just use the upper power point), and power for the ODBII port, and nothing else. So tough to notice in daily life. I think a bare/dirty/loose wire in the lighter port is routinely blowing that fuse and should be a simple fix.
