this afternoon I made a quick stop and shut the truck off for what was going to be about 10 minutes. the stop lasted all of 2 minutes and when I cranked it up, the engine was running but I had no dash panel, no AC, radio, windows, etc. it would shift into gear but nothing electrical would work. I shut it down and let it sit for 10 minutes and re-cranked. engine fired up no problem and everthing went back to normal with a wrench icon and a message saying to "check manual". the manual said nothing about this message so I ran home and hooked up the laptop with forscan. it couldn't pull any trouble codes.
thoughts??

Reason: added truck info
How old is battery? They do weird things in modern vehicles when they start to go, esp. in warmer weather. In cold weather they just choke. If battery is known serviceable check for loose or corroded battery and ground connections.

Very weird indeed.
With that being said and if you’re still under the 36K warranty, you should take it in and let your dealer check it. Just because you weren’t able to pull any codes via FORScan doesn’t mean that there aren’t any codes in the system and as you said, you did have a wrench symbol on your display.
My OEM battery only lasted exactly 2 years. I bought the truck 2 months after it’s build date and it’s parked i side when not in use.
Wow. I bought my truck in Sep of 2015 and I'm still running the original OEM battery and am pushing 75K miles. Now a few services ago I was told I needed a new battery and I said I'd worry about it when it gives me trouble. I had it in for service one time since and they said I must've put a new battery in the truck as it tested good.... I said, "nope, still the original". Got real quiet in the service dept.....

Our 2015 (June-ish) SuperCrew still has the original battery as well. We only have about 45,000 miles on it now, but I'm not complaining. A week or so ago, I was doing something that had me turn on the ignition (don't even remember what I was doing that had me doing that). My SO came out to call me into the house for a phone call, which caused me to walk away from the truck. Well, I forgot that I'd left the ignition on and the next morning I discovered that I'd completely drained the battery.
I put it on a smart charger for the rest of the morning, and it "seems" to be OK, but I guess time will tell. It's just turned 4 years old, so it may be living on borrowed time; especially since I just did a big no-no.
Stationary batteries, like used for land line phone service can last up to 20 years. Heat, and vibration, are huge automotive start battery killers, and esp. chronic undercharging. The tenders are real good for float charging but they don't move near enough juice. Buy a good charger, big enough to supply 20 amps if you're running dual batts and it should help maximizing service life.
thanks guys for the insight. I'm getting my battery checked this weekend (less than 2 years old) and if it checks out okay, I'm headed to the dealer. I haven't had anything close to that happening the rest of the week so who knows.
