I went to finally replace my speedometer cable tonight. I discovered my speedometer cable connected to the metal/black plastic piece pictured. That piece then connected to the instrument cluster. As I removed the metal/black plastic piece from the cluster, a one inch piece of the needle fell out. It appeared to have rusted and broke. As a result, I need the name of the metal/black part to replace it. It appears to have black and blue wires coming from it if that helps.
That's for a old aftermarket cruise control .the original speedometer cable is in the background and in the proper location for the cable not to get bound up. The new cable should come from the rear and attach to the speedometer without sharp bends.

Thanks for the quick response. I did a Google search but have had no luck finding the part. Any idea where to get a part number or replacement? I appreciate it.

Does your truck still have the aftermarket cruise control?
That's a 8k signal generator, pretty much obsolete. Dakota digital may have the unit available NOS.
I'll probably just skip connecting the cruise control as this will be my work truck for the immediate future.
Thanks for all the information. You've been very helpful.
