I appear to have a oil leak that wont show its face...back of the intake isnt leaking...ran the pickup and the rear seal on the oil pan isnt leaking...seems that I have to actually drive the pickup for it to leak, appears to be coming from the space in the transmission by the rear seal on the oil pan. It runs out and leaves a trail when turning a corner.
oil pressue is good at cold start up, drops once it warms up totally and raise back up on the highway.
Are you trying to say there is no oil coming out the back of the intake, and you do see oil coming out from behind the inspection plate (thin metal plate sandwiched between the engine and tranny)? Its your rear main seal.
I bet at idle when cold you have oil psi when it warms up your oil pressure is low at idle as in under 20 if not 10 and/or the oil psi jumps up and down at idle? And when you drive it the pressure comes up right at or above 20. More likely than not worn bearings
These are two of the most common ford related problem. There is a chance the oil psi sender is defective as this is common so unless there is a mechanical gauge on there now you may want to change that first to be sure of the psi otherwise your engine is wearing out and for a ford that is normal wear. Hope this helps some
As long as you have 10 psi of oil for every 1000 rpm, you are good to go
sounds about right....anyways I it almost has to be the rear seal leaking, It didnt leak while I was under there of course.....how hard is this to change in the truck? have to drop the pan?
