MTflat, could you de code my other 2 trucks one is a F1 my first pickup and also My F5, thank you once again for your help,
the F1 firewall # is 10RH30C2944 98RC274896
the F5 firewall # is LB2C26 i think LB is long beach ? 97HT 274981 LB
funny how the numbers are close and more than likely built in different plants
i have this book published by cars & parts magazine ford truck ID numbers from 1946 to 1972 it was showing RH as Richmond VA but that could of been a typo by the publisher very well could of been, CA insted of VA ?

i have this book published by cars & parts magazine ford truck ID numbers from 1946 to 1972 it was showing RH as Richmond VA but that could of been a typo by the publisher very well could of been, CA instead of VA ?
This book is a POS, the only place it belongs is in the circular file.

The Richmond assembly plant was in California, not Virginia. Both of your trucks are 49's, built in the Richmond and Long Beach plants, respectively. The F1 date code 30C is March 30, 1949. The F5 2C is march 2, 1949. The F1 is a V8 truck where the F5 was equipped with the inline 6. Everything else has been previously explained.
Bill and Wayne have good info there - that book is helpful in a very general way but does contain multiple errors as we have learned since it went to print.
Could you tell me the original color of the F1? 10 is the color code and I have two different owners describe it as either light gray or beige. Any insight you can give would help nail it down.
Color in the code goes back to the first F1s in 1948. Some plants put it at the front of the build code and others stick it in the middle. They did change from numbers to letters. My 48 F1 from Richmond CA uses the number 7 as color code where your 50 shows it as M. Both are Meadow Green. Seems like 1950 is when SOME plants switch over.
MT the 50 you decoded RHF1m19K2982 is a friends truck not mine, the F1 with 10 as the color code is a truck i bought in 1975, while sanding it down years ago i could tell it use to be some color of grey when it was new but what shade i don't know down the road i can do some checking, seems i found grey color inside the cab sadly i painted over a lot of it back in 76 or 77 but it was a grey color
LB 2C26 so the 26 must of been the 26th down the line, so where does one find the correct decoding info out there
There isn't any decoding info out there for these trucks. Ford burned the records in/around 1967.
We are the experts (if you want to call it that) on decoding firewall and serial numbers for '48-50. As far as I know, no one has more compiled data than you can find right here and we've been at it for 20 years now.
Thanks for the info on the 10 color!
