never heard that John.... I was cutting a cardboard pattern against a steel ruler. Had my fingers well back from the edge.
I had surgery on nerve in right ring finger about a year ago and the feeling is just now starting to come back. Some times in just
the right position that finger will twitch and jump out a little. Sadly it did it 2 milliseconds before the knife blade passed it. Peeled it right off

It will be a little cumbersome with that bandage working on your truck, you can still get it in for the exhaust work though..

Certainly glad it wasn’t worse John. You’ll just have to let nature do it’s course now. But it doesn’t stop you from looking in parts books and magazines for new ideas.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune John, I can feel your pain. I was involved in an shop accident years ago and am working without 2 digits on my left hand. My recovery from that incident alone took several months of healing but I've learned to manipulate and adjust to my misfortune . Wishing you a speedy recovery.

funny that... the reason for the impromtu surgery was from a blunder (another ) I made. Way back in the dim ages when I was mocking up consoles and such, I must have made a bad measurement or something. this week I put the console in and connected all the switches...doors, windows and the remote wiring for the key fob hicky. Everything worked as designed. Next I started on the inside part of the a/c. I lifted the unit up toward where it should be and it didn't fit !!!. It was hitting the right side of the console. I was off about 1.5 inches. . Not able to just scoot it over...it will interfere with the gas pedal. Had to make it skinyier.

Expletives were uttered but to my credit, at a reduced volume level. Measurements were determined to make it right and the whole thing was carefully removed (although snatching was a brief thought). Moved a bunch of wiring and terminal strips around to get clearance and the cuts were made...sections removed and glues and nails applied. Next step was trimming all the aluminum panels for the top 3 panels), I was in the process of templating the center one when the bleeding started.

So to make a long story even longer... with the console out I have no door window or hood controls. When I'm in the truck...I'm in it for good. And I know how to get out but wouldn't want to take it to the shop that way. We'll just have to work on my virtue of patience.

John, use an exacto blade the next time. They are very small and I doubt they could do that much harm.

best wishes, Wil

Oh, yeah. My Grandpa's cousin Fred once messed with a stubborn lawn mower. Since then he had to do with only three fingers on his right hand as well. As a child I was always scared to hear that story. Non the less, I wanted to hear it every time I met him....
