Radiator Blues

Just finished the turbo rebuild and was climbing out of the engine when I heard a snap and whoosh. My brand new red coolant pouring out from the top drivers side hose bib. Is there a quick fix or am I looking at a new radiator?

Snapped in the middle

Definitely a new radiator. I got one from NAPA a few years ago, no issues so far.

Wow that is impressive how clean that broke. I wouldn't try to fix that. I'd probably use it as an excuse to put a Mishimoto in knowing myself as I do.

Well, I guess deep down I knew it was going to be a new radiator. The NAPA price is definitely more appealing. Is there a need for the $300 brand?

Sorry to see that.
Yes, much less likely for that to happen with a Mishimoto radiator, plus there is a much better heat transfer with the all aluminum radiator. Since there are no plastic tanks on top/bottom, there are less chances of cracks from the constant heating/cooling the plastics are exposed to - similar scenario with our coolant overflow tanks. Bite the bullet only if you plan to keep and use this truck for sometime.

I had the overflow connection crack through on mine. I used some JB Weld Steel Stik to hold it together until I could get another one and find the time to install it. That lasted about a day so the truck got parked until I could replace it.

Is there a "need" for a $300 radiator?? Nope. Like I said a few years back I put a NAPA radiator in my '99. We tow a heavy travel trailer and I drive spirited at times and haven't had any issues.
