I finally started the tear down. Owned the truck since the summer 1996. Have almost all the parts to do her up right. Freshening the C6 up by adding an extra clutch pack and shift kit. Took the ol’ 428 to the shop for a hp and torque injection. Bought the Edelbrock Pro 4 injection kit. Plan upgrading to the Edelbrock heads also. Prior to the rebuild it had 330hp at ???rPM and 428lb torque ar 3100RPM if I remember right. I still have the paper work with the numbers. Got a rebuilt Dana 44 hd with trac lock ready to go under her also. Bought the 78-79 F250 4x4 steering box from Redhead and the Borgson shaft to upgrade the power assist it currently has. Power assist has always worked good for me. It was a small fortune when I added it. Picked up some old school 16.5 slots also. Will be adding the 78 tilt column I have along with a sport steering wheel. Will add picture as I go.
Wow, you have spent some duckys! I'm excited for you. Isn't it great that folks like Edelbrock and Holley are making multi-port injection intake manifolds for our old engines?! I love carburetors, but aftermarket EFI has come a long way recently and I'm seriously considering what you're doing on my Jeep build.
My pickup is a '76 high boy with a 428 CJ so I've been through a lot of what you're into. looks like you're pretty well on your way .
The steering conversion is the best thing since sliced bread . no more leaks, no more slack and no more herding it down the road. I assume you're doing the 2wd ford box set up.
No, going with the 78-79 F250 4x4 box. Collecting parts for 23 years. I for got what I had till I started hauling boxes out of the attic. By the way not a good place to store parts! Gets to dam hot. All my NOS trim was pretty much out of the packages. All the NOS ford rubber looked good though. Evten forgot I have a extremely nice set of Ranger door panels. I don’t even remember buying those, lol. It was with a radio delete dash bezel. Back when I thought the sound of the 428 was as good as it got. Yep, keeping the color scheme as close to original as I can. I am adding the thin trim I think. Still undecided. Will strip a piece and polish it up before I paint the truck.
Nice! I have 428 in my 75 frame off put 4600 miles on it decided to do uprgrade project. Fitech EFI,Dakota gauges, AOD automatic tranny, aluminum radiator, back up camera, LED all around.
Now that is a nice ride. I to am going with the Dakota dash. Could not pull the trigger on the AOD. How did that work out with the short drive line? I was afrade the adaptive would muck it up. Buddy has the FAST injection on his Mopar. I really like the idea of sesqenchal injection tied to the distributor. I know you can do that with FAST, but dam it is high. Like you pull system also. Can’t decide on it either. Some days I like the updated look and someday I thinks as close to old school look as possible. Really nice ride!

i went with fitech In tank pump. Hyper fuel I believe it’s called. In tank pump runs cooler quieter that’s why decided to go that way. I have custom built 43 gallon tank in my bed , sorry no pics on my ipad.
I,m happy with AOD . Just shortened the driveshaft to the divorced transfer case.
Youl really like the Dakota super visible day and night. I upgraded with compass and out ide air temp and tranny temp.
Enjoy your build !! Fords rule !
Ive got 73 Bronco sitting waiting for a frame off. Hopefully when I retire next year I’ll start that build.
Not sure how you're going to make the 78-79 box work . if it doesn't the Benchworks kit is a bolt on and go situation I highly recommend. it uses the 2wd box.
I wish i'd have stockpiled some NOS parts back when you could get them. the DC stuff is pretty good but you can't get half of it 90% of the time. it's like they're allergic to money or something.
