It doesn't move out from the glass very far, so it takes a lot of a little bit of back and forth to loosen it up.

Yep, I found that out. I took it off, a little liquid wrench, a lot of back and forth with one end in the vise, some oil and it seems fine. It seems like there are two ranges of movement where it moves freely, but not in between the two ranges. So I don't know if it's working right or not, but at least it's moving now. It's been raining, so will check it out tomorrow.

I had the same problem with my 00. It was till covered under warranty so i took it to the dealer. They replaced the arm and the rear motor. I don't really know what the motor had to do with it but there hasn't been a problem since then and it handled a hurricane quite nicely.

Should be $20 or less at the dealer. If you can't free up your's, a new arm should fix it IMO.

I had the same thing done and it didn't last long at all (it's garaged, hand washed and driven less then 20 mi a week).
How long has yours been on?

I actually had mine done in July and it's been fine. I drive about 130 miles a day and I don't have a gargage so I am afraid to say that it's not the most ideal conditions, but we have had rain out here (on the east coast) like there is no tomorrow and the wiper has held up. Now I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Rear Wiper Arm

My motor quit working and was actually still under warranty (WHEW). Then the wiper would miss the window completely...

I took it back in and now Ford told me the arm may need replacing and that I was out of service...I reminded them I had an ESP.

Then their tune changed.....they came to get me in the waiting area and said "Your all set"....I asked the tech (the same guy who put in the new motor) what he did to correct the wiper not hitting the window....his reply "I just bent the arm in towards the window".....I guess I could have done that, but I might have wound up snapping something.....

Regards,

I just dont bother using it, put a little rainx on the windows and the water sheeds right off can see just fine, plus it tends to scractch the back window and i hate having that big round windshied wiper scratch on
