I put Xpel Ceramic all the way around including the Panoramic Sunroof....20% on driver and passenger windows and clear the rest of the way around. Ceramic makes an incredible difference on the heat transfer.
I finally had the front door glass tinted, Llumar CTX25 (ceramic). I was expecting a slight difference in shade and/or color compared to the rears but it's not slight, it's very much different. The factory color is more of a brownish tint I would say and looks much lighter looking from inside out. The installer didn't have the 25 in stock so I wasn't able to look in advance, had to order it. I plan to see what he says about it, if there are other brands or types that match better or if doing the rears is the best fix. I didnt really want to do the rear any darker.
I have used Lumar FormulaOne Pinnacle Ceramic 35% (legal limit in TN) on the last 5 of our vehicles. The factory "tint" is simply dyed glass, so the 35% tint goes all glass except the windshield. Yes, the rears come out darker by having the tin over the dyed glass... but not as much as you'd think. BTW Air80 does a great job on front windshields (not legal however)... but you can't tell it is on (looks clear) and there isn't a good way for anyone to test the windshield. The vehicle is noticeably cooler here in the south after the tint goes on.
I think what I'll do is see what a light tint looks like over the rear door glass. I think the lightest he stocks a 50% ctx, see if that makes enough difference in color from the inside to make it worth the $. Its funny, from the outside the fronts look lighter than the rears, from the inside it's the opposite, the rears look way lighter.
I took a few photos to give an idea of what I'm seeing with shade and color difference. Not the best day for it, cloudy, but it can still be seen. On a sunny day from outside looking in, the front looks lighter than the rears, the opposite from the inside as seen in the photos. Llumar CTX25 two fronts.
NY checks tint during annual vehicle inspections and will fail the vehicle if the tint is greater xyz% (basically factory tint)
Huh? This thread was to get input on brand and shade suggestions, not necessarily what's legal or not. I'm in CA, basically no tint is allowed on the fronts, no inspections though, just the chance an officer might give a ticket.
I was told by my tint shop that the sunroof has special glass and any tint added will crack it by overheating or something like that. Don't know if true or not.
I went with Llumar Ceramic all the way around....even over the factory dye'd glass. The factory glass is dye'd and offers no UV protection or heat rejection. I went with a 50% over the factory privacy glass which dropped it to 15% overall. I went with 25% on the front two windows to keep it legal here in my state.
I little cloudy here today but hope this gives you what you need. My tint is the Lumar Pinacle Ceramic - 25 on the fronts and 50 over the privacy glass. No sunroof so it's nice and dark from the outside looking in but, more than manageable from the inside looking out in our long and dark winters here in the NW.

Thank you. I'm not entirely sure what the difference between Formula One Pinnacle and Llumar CTX is. Made by the same company, both ceramic and both considered premium. From my searching some say the F1 Pinnacle has a greenish hue and the CTX a blueish hue. In your photo of just the drivers glass I see green, and I also see green in my CTX. It doesn't look like the 50% helps much with making the rears a closer color match like I had hoped.

Have used it on all my vehicles and, in all honesty, have never really noticed the green hue although I can see it in the pic. For me though there are couple of thing that are more important.....UV / Heat protection and how it looks from the outside. Both of those boxes are checked with this setup. My wife's Grand Cherokee is set up the exact same way and we are happy with it. You may need to go with a dye'd film to get the look you want.
Interesting - Formula1 Pinnacle on our last 3 vehicles and never noticed the green hue either.
Do you have it on a Super Duty and does it look green now that you're thinking about it? Haha. If you do, post a photo like mine and NWnative posted. I dont have the Pinnacle but trying to find the difference between it and CTX I found mention of it having a green hue. Having only the 2 fronts done on mine, it was very obvious from the get go, you can see an obvious shade and color difference in the photos above. NWnative may be right, a non ceramic dyed tint might be what I would need, to get the color(or lack of)I was expecting. That's also what I've had and am used to in my other truck.
