My steering wheel is wobbling and I know I need the bearing rebuild kit, which I plan on buying shortly. Is there anything else I can do? My steering wheel can be pulled out a little or pushed in and it makes horrid noises when I turn. I would really like to make my steering nice. What else can I do? I was thinking a new pump and gearbox, any suggestions?
Other than the bearing to correct the push/pull issue, If the noise on turning is a whine, it is likely the pump. It was with mine. I had to take back one new pump as it was noisy after installation. If you have any wandering issues, you might try a stabilizer. It's like a long throw shock absorber that attaches to the frame and tie rod. It worked well for my steering.
