Doing it myself just means that I can't afford to pay for it. Oil change, cooking dinner, laundry, car wash, Asian massage, house painting....... let your imagination run wild.
Doing it myself would save enough for the Asian massage if I were so inclined, however, they charge $40 an hour, so I doubt I could afford that even if I did do it myself. LOL
Is that politically incorrect? I don't want anyone to be offended by mention of Asian massage parlors. But if you're spending all of your money on oil changes......you might have to give yourself a massage.

The reason I learned how to wrench on cars is because I couldn't afford to pay the repairman - at least for some things.
It didn't save much the first time around, but after that, I was usually able to get it done cheaper, since I already had the tools for the job.
For an oil change, I wouldn't lift every wheel. Just lift the front end. Good idea with making your own ramps. I have a pair of FloTool Rhino Ramps Max rated for 16,000 lbs. I posted a photo of transmission fluid draining out. I wanted all the wheels off the ground, and the vehicle level.
You ever find yourself with a collection of special purpose tools? I have about a half dozen spark plug sockets, just to get at different spark plugs at different angles. Same for me with lift tools. I've got a collection of jacks, jack stands, ramps....only thing I don't use is the OEM scissor jack. I am really scared of a car falling on me. I can't be too safe. Those UniJacks are like having my own lift, being able to get the vehicle lift point up to 21" off the ground. I can use them with a car, or a truck. Maybe one of the best lift tools I own. And they are strong enough to actually lift and support a full size truck from the frame rails, crossmembers, axle tube.....
Some people just use a floor jack, and pray that it does not lose pressure and collapse. Other people think that they can get out from under the car really fast if the jack or jack stand fails.
It's nothing to joke about - my step dad was crushed under a car. I refuse to emulate him in that regard.

My only complaint about Asian Massages is that those girls tend to be way too short...
