Electrical problems

I was having some issues with my gauges disappearing on me. The gauges came back except the ones that show what gear I’m in, this haven’t come back for about 3 days and my main screen that has the radio and such will go away but the radio still comes on the screen is just black, I have a appt to take it to the dealership I was wondering if anyone has had this happen and what the cause was and how long it took for the repair?

Well, on my '17, using the +/- button on the shift lever will bring the gear screen back to life. And touching the nav screen will bring it back to life. No answer as to why they are disappearing.

Not sure if this qualifies, but I am having an interesting issue with my trailer notification system on my 2019 SD diesel. First time I hooked up a trailer to the truck since I bought it and it gives me an error message concerning my left turn signal and flashes really fast and trailer light does not work. I am certain this not simply a bulb out on trailer since I have tested the light and it works just fine on my buddy's truck. In addition, I tried another trailer and it does the same thing? I do not know what the issue is but it's weird. During the trip it briefly starting working fine and then went right back to error message? Anyone else have this issue. Only 6k miles on the truck.

I have ave the same thing on my buddies boat trailer when I tow it, when I tow my travel trailer I have no issues, for some reason it’s that style of plug that it does that on, thanks for reminding me I have to call the dealership and have them look at that too lol, I am considering trading in my 2018 I’ve had a lot of little issues with it, nothing major but very annoying issues, I want to go back to a 7.3 lol

Thanks! When I get off work I’m going to try that, the gauges disappearing sucks tho, it’s nice to know how much fuel I have left lol

I had the same with my 2017 F350. Mine was a prong in the RV receptacle in the bumper for the left turn signal also. Make sure the truck is off and take a smaller flat bladed screw driver and spread the prong just a little bit to make proper connection.

I will give this a try. I sure hope this works and solves the issue. I can take it to dealership but I prefer not to wait and would like this solved.

Had the same issue and after reading about the electrical connector (near the spare tire) water intrusion and corrosion causing all kinds of problems I got some dielectric grease and contact cleaner. I then disconnected sprayed, greased and reconnected every connector I could find on the truck from the bumper RV plug to the front of the vehicle. NO MORE Trailer issues!!

It worked! Thanks for the tip! I also found that by using the +/- button you can lock out gears while your driving, I can’t wait to try that next time I’m towing!

The 1-6 can be displayed when not in manual mode, I have mine on all the time and will also show what gear I am in, but with the Diesel and 430 gears, if I am moving its usually in 6th

You do that by pressing the +or- after start up? I'll have to try this.

When my truck was new, I also lost the gear indicator--someone here posted how to get it back. I did not figure it out by myself.
