That's too nice to drive, sadly.

Show'd the wife pic & the gif. (She points them [Lightnings] out where I miss em')

Her response: "Well... Is he gonna' buy it?"

Just as soon as I figure out how to fit a couple of toddler car seats in it.

I've already warned my wife that my mid-life crisis is gonna be a Gen 1 Lightning. I've still got a few years to go before I can claim that one though.

Curious, since you guys seems to know Lightnings, I have a question for you. Does the 351W in this use a roller cam or flat tappet? I had read that it was flat tappet, but when I was looking for a steel gear replacement distributor for my 95 F150 with the 351W and a roller cam, the only steel gear distributors I could find were for Lightnings. I could not find anyone who offered a steel gear distro for my truck, only cast iron gear distros, so I am considering ordering a Lightning distro.

Appreciate any light you might be able to shine on what has becoming a very perplexing issue.

Cheers,

Rod

Yeah, I'd say that price is pretty optimistic, but I've noticed a number of these dealers that specialize in older vehicles have started asking exorbitant prices for clean 80-96 F-150's.

Stuff like this: https://www.vanguardmotorsales.com/i...iat-4x4-pickup

Thanks. As I understand it, the earlier non-Lightning flat tappet cams required a cast iron distro gear. Does the Lightning run a different cam that requires a steel gear or is my understanding incorrect?

The Lightning distributor has a cast gear, sounds like you got some bad info.

Crazy for sure, especially the first one.

I paid 9k for my Lightning 5yrs ago with 80k miles on it,and think I paid too much for it. My 7.3PSD F350 only has 60k miles on it and I've seen stupid high numbers for similar trucks.

I guess as long as the current trucks are high, the decent used ones will be also.

What gets me about the 2nd one is that it's over 225k miles, and they are asking $17k for it. It's just a 5.0, and I'd be willing to be it's still got the factory 3.55 gears trying to turn those 33x12.50's. It's gotta be a dog with that combo.

I still think the 7.3 PSD is the best motor Ford has ever made. I've been keeping my eye out for a decent OBS F-250 CCSB 7.3PSD, but I can't believe what people are asking for them.
