thoughts on coolant flush

Hello everyone , I am curious about a coolant flush . I Know this subject has been beat to death.
I am a first time diesel owner and I am about to do a coolant flush. the truck is an 2007 f250 6.0 lariat c/c two wheel drive .
I bought the truck about 2 years ago ,to help my son move to hollowman afb. in nm. the truck did great . it has almost 120,000
mi. on it I have and use torque pro app , and my delta is around 11.2 at 70 mph and about 85 outside totally empty . I have been reading
a lot of posts on this . I am going to do a vc-9 flush then remove the thermostat for the rest of the flush procedure , followed by a oil cooler
backflush , heater core backflush , and radiator flush . I would like to know if anyone has done a coolant flush then a oil cooler backflush
before filling the cooling system . if so how successful was it. should I consider replacing the oil cooler thanks in advance .

What coolant is currently in it?

Why do you feel it is necessary to use VC-9? It is an acidic cleaner. Your temperature differential is not great but ok.

Have you verified that the coolant and oil temps are reading accurately?

as far as I can tell the coolant is ford premium gold . as for the eot and the ect temps they appear to be correct using
the torque pro app with the elm 327 obd2 scanner . and as for the vc-9 I was going to use it due to all the other post I've read.

Do the coolant, oil, transmission, and IAT 1&2 all read pretty close to each other on a cold engine (after sitting for 10-12 hours).

My opinion is to not use VC-9 unless you have to. Others may feel differently.

ok thanks bismic . I was planning on doing an oil change with oil filter and both fuel filters , along with a trans fluid drain and fill with external filter change..
for the IAT 1&2 is that with koeo or right after it starts

For temperatures, just do a KOEO.

A water backflush of the oil cooler wouldn't hurt. Be sure to get enough distilled water flushes that you leave MOSTLY distilled water in the engine. The whole system holds about 7 gallons, and at best (w/ block drains open and the lower hose off) you will drain about 3.5 gallons. There is a lot of "hold up" in the system.

After you have thoroughly flushed w/ distilled water, you need to add 3.5 gallons of concentrated coolant (100% coolant) and then top off with distilled water.

ok I was going to get about 30 gallons of distilled water, and get all the other supplies at rockauto .
the local steelership wanted about 18.00 a gal . for the coolant and 7.00 qt for lv trans fluid.

Don't go back in w/ Ford Gold coolant, get an EC-1 rated ELC coolant. That is a MUCH better choice,

Is that close to ambient (91 dgrees)?

What I use isn't readily available (Shell Rotella Ultra). Most people use the Red Rotella ELC. Nitrite-free is getting to be the most common and will work well.

https://rotella.shell.com/en_us/prod...e-coolant.html

If/when I change, I will probably go to a Caterpillar store and get their ELC coolant.

Do not use a G05 coolant! The whole family of G05 coolants will gel up.

Bismic, your saying it's ok to do a straight distilled water flush as long as the deltas are ok?

I to run G03 and plan to switch to the red. Ordering the back flush kit this weekend. Deltas have never been above maybe 9.
