My thoughts with installing PPF ( the lense protectors/clear films ) is their adherence. So they stick well, are clear and look good. But when they yellow, you'll have to remove them and reinstall. They glue gets hard and the PPF film is a bit tough to remove. What if you have a semi-faulty clear UV film on your headlight. Pulling the PPF film off MAY just end up catastrophic and peel large pieces of that UV film off the OEM headlight.
Yesterday I checked out 2 of our service trucks at work, I think 17-19 model years, and their headlights are perfect.
I'm finally at the dealership now for an oil change. Asked them to have my headlights pre-approved for warranty replacement, expecting a fight, and they approved it without issue. They will be here Tue. Haven't even swapped the Beamtechs out yet.

Finally got around to having the dealer inspect my headlights due to the peeling issue. Both headlights (halogen) had the coating peel on top and the top/corners. Thankfully still under warranty, Ford approved both and new headlights are on order!

Its great that they will warranty this, as they should, but it sucks knowing if can easily show up again on the replacements when out of warranty. Unless they made some improvement or it was just a bad batch.
My replacements were good to go in the known problem areas, but the inner portion of the "C" on one side, the coating was milky white and uncured so it easily came off with a fingernail, so I expect a new set of issues in the coming years. Hopefully lots of nice aftermarket options by then.

Ya, hoping it was only a bad batch from the 9/17 build date...but who knows.
Recently noticed I have the same problem on my 2018. Think the build date was 2/2018, but I'm out of town and can't check.

After approximately 3 months of waiting on a decision from Ford, they denied replacement of the LED headlight on my '19. Mine(1) looked very much like the others in this thread. Top corner, started out small, about dime size when I first noticed, now about a 2" area. The truck is still under the bumper to bumper warranty, and reading through this thread, and a thread on a Tremor forum, gave me hope that Ford would replace it without too much trouble. No such luck.
Like the OP, there was some back and forth with pictures, then more pictures. I was dealing directly with the service manager who sounded like he was on my side with it. It's pretty disappointing actually. I'm not aware of any avenues that I can take to push back either. I am considering talking with one other dealer in the area to see if they have seen this issue, and been able to successfully obtain warranty approval. Not really sure what else can be done.
Ford service is bottom rate. They denied my extended premium ford warranty for the lights even though it explicitly covers exterior lighting. They also denied my claim for cameras, which had degraded completely to being unusable. They said they only cover 'electrical failures' of the camera system. I spent two weeks arguing with fords warranty office and the dealership. One rep hung up one when I challenged their interpretation of the language in the extended plan. They said if you mention the word lawyer they cannot talk anymore and humg up. First and last ford for me. Truck has been in the shop for literally months over the last six, and it has to go back again because they damaged my hood and didn't fix the CELs.
From looking at the pictures it almost seems like some sort of chemical solution or contaminate ran down the hood and dripped onto the headlight fixture and caused the damage. Maybe from the inside?
Perhaps a good coat of wax or something on the fixtures as a preventative measure?
We can whine about plastic parts and remember the good old days where your headlight trim just rusted instead.
Those rusty bezels didn't cost $1,000 or w/e they are getting for the LED replacements. Glad I got halos and run Beamtechs instead. As crazy as it sounds these days, I will never purchase an extended warranty again, and haven't since being denied back around 2003. Maybe you could escalate with a regional service rep?

That's funny, because some sort of chemical is also Fords way of putting blame on the owner. It's funny you say wax too, in my case that is something that Ford used as a possible cause haha. What you are seeing in these pictures, and those found in other forums, is a premature failure of the clear coat. Or whatever UV coating is on them. I have another truck that is almost 20 years old with plastic housings, there is no peeling. Just discoloration. Hopefully your headlights don't start peeling early so you won't have to whine about it.
What I don't understand is, they have seen this happen before on various years and models. The same time in use, same exact concern, and have approved many of them. So is it just a matter of catching the wrong person on the wrong day....
