degas bottle levelmarks

when i got my degas bottle last year, no marks of any kind on the new bottle, used an index card on the old marks and transferred to the new bottle.
original 2006 think they changed them since?

question
does anyone Know where the min and max marks are supposed to be how far from the top lip or bottom of the bottle?
i am assuming mine are lower below the minimum but have no way to confirm the min and max marks are correct

i see a lot about keeping coolant at the min marks but no mention of the distance?
thanks

Click on the "enlarge" word under the picture. Min (cold) is at the lower edge of the yellow sticker and max is at the upper edge.

That is pretty close to correct, JMO at least, from what I have seen on others.

My bottle has only one mark on it, fairly low down. I set the level just below it and not had a problem.

There is a vertical internal rib that you can see the shadow of from the side of the reservoir near the cap. Along this rib, from the top/bottom seam down there should be a molded indicator mark at approximately 20mm or 3/4"ish. This mark is the HOT MAX FILL level with coolant cap removed.

From the HOT MAX FILL mark, down about 15mm or about 5/8" is the COLD FILL level.

Hope this helps.

Is it weird that mine goes down when its hot? Runs normal, coolant just "shrinks" when its hot. Goes down the bottle by about 1/2" it returns back to the starting point when its cold so its not gaining or losing any.

No it's not wierd. But next time it goes down when it is HOT, slowly open the cap to vent it and you'll see it come back up to the fill mark.

Already did that, it does. Just seems odd that normally matter expands when it gets warm, unless the air at the top of the degas bottle is expanding and pushing the fluid down.

This was discussed in another thread but yes the air compresses under pressure pushing down the coolant causing the hoses & such to expand allowing more coolant to go down. Then when you open the cap and dump pressure the hoses force the coolant back up into the small air space of the top of the degas bottle.

If it's easier for the hoses to expand out at temp and pressure, reservoir level can go down.

Yes, I did that in the post above and the 2nd pic in the collage shows it. It is 20mm or a little over 3/4".
