Trouble starting when hot

Looking for a little advice on a starting issue. First a quick back story. I got my 67 F250 4sp with a 352 engine a little more than a year ago. Since then, I’ve fixed the brakes and been trying to get it to hold its liquids, so it’s really just been to Lowes and back. Well, this year I’ve gotten more adventurous and made sure my AAA towing was paid up. Proud to say that I used my truck to pick up a car and tow it about an hour away over hilly terrain. The truck did great. I was very proud of it.

One issue that I’m having with the longer trips is getting started again once I stop. On the tow trip, I stopped for gas on the way back and had a heck of a time getting it fired up again. This has happened several times now on longer trips. So once it’s warmed up (hot engine), there seems to be an issue. If I just shut it down for a couple minutes, no problem. If I let it sit for like 10 minutes, it doesn’t want to start. If it sits for more than an hour, it will start pretty easily (engine cooling off?). The engine has no issue starting when cold. In the winter, I give it one shot of fuel and fires right up. Don’t need the shot now that it’s warmer.

One thing that I noticed was a water hose that is blocked off right before the carburetor. There looks to be a place on the carb where this would connect at the front of the carb. I wondering if I have all the coolant plumbing in place. I looked at the drawings on Fordification and it doesn’t seem to include this plumbing. At least as far as I can tell. (not the best at reading those things)

I have to give credit to Skaeke, I stole this picture from his post. Can anyone help me with the plumbing.

The Red arrow looks like it’s pointing to the ac line, but I was trying to show the water line that runs from the Y fitting (for lack of a better term) on top of the water pump to the carburetor. I have that line on my truck, but it isn’t hooked to the carb. If you put water into the carb, I think you need to get it out as well. Is there a connection the back of the carb that the Green arrow hose connects to? I have no idea where the hose with the Blue arrow is going. Anyone know what that hose connects to/from?

My thought is that the carb is getting hot due to lack of cooling. I’m hoping that is the starting issue.

Sorry for the long post. Really appreciate you guys and the expert advice.

Thanks, Jeff

Hey folks,
Please disregard this thread. I just found an existing thread that has a lot of the information I need. Sorry about that. Not so good with the search feature.
