Hello, Iv'e been trying to program my keyless remote for a while now with no luck,. I have a 1997 Explorer Xlt I found some directions on the net on how to program it.. It goes like this
Turn ign to acc or on 5x's in 10 seconds..after that the doors will unlock press any button on transmitter and that's..
I have done that with no luck I have even changed the batteries on the transmitters.. Can someone out there please help? Thanks.......
yeah sometimes t takes more than 5x did the truck come with keyless (just making sure) and most times you just turn igniton from off to on until the locks jump...then press they desired key..
You said yours is a '97 right?? If so, do you have the password entry on the driver's door?? If you don't, then you don't have remote entry either. If you do, then try again. It should lock then unlock after 5 times, be sure stopping at on position and not the off position. Good luck!!!
hey, i have a 99 and in order to program my remote keyless entry you have to turn the key to the on and off positions 8 times before the doors will lock. Thats what the manual states. Maybe that will help

I have done some research on this same thing. I think for your 97 and all fords you have to program 2 remotes. Only programming one will not work.
I have found this site http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/Remote%20Ke...2097-24-13.htm
to be a very good one for insturctions for programming the key fobs and which one works with what.
Hope this helps
Hey I got a question. I just bought 2 more remotes off ebay. If you have one working remote already, will it affect the working remote if you try to program the other 2? or will the other 2 just compliment the one that's already working.
Basically my question is, is it the remote that's being programmed or does your alarm system programs the remote?
For my 98 Explorer you just turn the key on and off 8 times within 10 seconds, on the last turn keep it in the "on" position then hit the lock button on each remote immediately. Worked like a charm!!

im assuming the "on" position is the position before you actually start the car right?

how long do you have to program all the remotes before the program mode ends? I'm just a little worried because I'm going to be programming 3 remotes at a time and what if I mess up.
Merely a few seconds, but if you mess up do not worry, you can do it again. I kept my remotes on my leg as i did it to keep them right on hand.
