The vehicles built in the US immediately after WWII were a happy mess of scrounged parts and poor documentation. I would presume the Canadian production had much the same approach. The passage of time also meant gave many opportunities for part swapping/replacement.

Case in point, according to the Early Ford V8 Club reference book, the 46 Ford passenger cars had EITHER the old trumpet style OR the new snail style horns. Mine ended up with BOTH with the snail horns mounted on brackets hand welded to the radiator support.

Your truck could very well have originally had the trumpet style cobbled on to your inner fender. That was the spot used on my '46 Deluxe.

Thanks
I do not believe this is the original horn, I bought it at a flea market hoping it would work, I am going to open up the horn tomorrow and clean it and try to write it, I noticed one of the posts that the wire attaches to is longer than the other, does that mean anything?

Often trumpet horns were installed as pairs. You may have one from such a set with the remaining wiring still attached.

so I took the horn apart and cleaned up all the connections, I put the horn back together and it still just makes a thunk sound, I have tried turning the adjustment screw all the way in and all the way out it didn't make a difference. Is there something I am missing or is this horn buggered?

Did you turn the screw 1/4 turn, test, and repeat? The range in which the horn works is very small; if you turned the screw too much between tests you could have easily missed the sweet spot.
