Post My C6 teardown rebuild

Hopefully i can keep this thread alive enough with pics and such to help another zero experience fella out down the road... Started tear-down last night, things were going very smooth until I got to the rear reverse hub section were I couldnt find the rear retaing ring that holds that whole section back into the tail shaft, cuz its missing ! no pieces, no nothing. Pulled out the reverse ring gear and found the #9 thrust washer looking like this, then found the reverse clutch jammed back over the inner race and stuck in place until I started pulling rollers and fighting with it for 20 minutes. Once that was out I could see springs laying around the rear piston... Thats where I called it a night, back at it today !

WOW I would take a guess and say " for sure something is amiss in that trans" NO laughing mater meant . I just redid mine I had help tho from Ken Collins C6 video. A great help but you still had to watch what you were doing. DON"T spill the valve body parts off the tray like I did. Had a hell of a time finding a pic of where everything went !!!! I just hope all is in the right place and it works . I used a B&M shift improver kit The street/strip version and a TCI 2400 high stall torque converter. Good luck with your adventure and hope all goes well for you.

Hey thanks for the pics, is your truck 4x4 and if so are you having clearance issues with that deep pan and the front cross member ? Its seems impossible to find an OEM 4x4 pan for my truck, theres tons of aftermarket pans, but none like the OEM ...

No mine is a 2wd, so no issues with the deep pan. Do you need a pan for a 4x4? If so I may be able to locate a OEM pan up here in Canada. My local Trans rebuilder here in Listwel Ontario may have one. Last I heard he would let one go for $40 CDN.

I will check with him on Tuesday, this being a long weekend up here. I 'll let you know one way or the other along with shipping it down to you. Any preference as to how you would like it shipped? Canada Post, UPS Fed/Ex?

Got your PM but no pics. which is alright. I know what a 4x4 pan looks like my friend lol . As I said I will check to see if he has one. Last time I was there he had a couple of them. Pans and used C6 ( big and small block bolt patterns) trannys are getting hard to come by up here as well. Used valve bodies are RARE IF you can find one for a decent price !!!! I am out and about tomorrow so I will drop in to see him. Get back to you later. .
