Brake control probelm

I have a 2013 F150 with factory brake control. I have 3 trailers I pull with electric brakes. 2 of them acted up recently. My dash screen says trailer disconnected then 3 miles later reconnects. 3rd trailer never fails at all. What is the deal with giving each trailer a default number or any other suggestions. I took it to my Ford dealer and they say the error code say to replace the trailer harness for $300. I'm confused when my 3rd trailer work flawlessly.

inspect the wires on the backside of the plug on the truck.. Look INSIDE the plug and see if any pins are corroded...Look at the harness several inches behind the plug toward the axle and see if you see any damage.

I know you say in works on ONE trailer, but that is probably just a coincidence in time ............. your plug or wire at the plug probably has a problem.

Make sure your trailers are grounded through the 7 pin to the truck and not through the hitch. Common issue as the truck can't detect the trailer properly.

I did run a temp wire from neg of battery to new drilled screw on trailer. No improvement. What is the procedure to address the 3 trailers to the truck? I have inspected the back and the inside of the plug, and looked ok.

You can buy 7 pin trailer plug testers to test the truck side. Maybe try that to at least determine if the issue is definitely truck side. Handy tester to have around at least.

First off check all the plugs for corrosion in the plug and around the screws with the case off. Next see where all the grounds are connected to the trailer or trailer harness and make sure there is a ground coming from the truck to trailer harnesses, both truck and trailer.
Running a wire from the negative to the trailer might make everything work but it is bypassing the trailer harness therefor not going through the brain that tells the trailer control the trailer is there.
