F660 Vin Decoder help

Hey Ya’ll. I just bought a 1975 F660 and I’m trying to find out what it’s all got or had when it was built. I’m not having much luck decoding this VIN. Any help would be appreciated

[QUOTE=Dave Squires;18643270]Hey Ya’ll. I just bought a 1975 F600 and I’m trying to find out what it’s all got or had when it was built. I’m not having much luck decoding this VIN. Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to FTE

F66 = F600 4WD (gas).

D = 330 2V Heavy Duty FT engine.

V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.

V63764 = 1975.

158" Wheelbase.

COLOR: Blank.*

F660 = F600 4WD (gas), 21700 lbs. GVWR

4B8 4B = Black Heavy Duty Vinyl / 81 = 81A Standard Cab.

P = Borg-Warner T-19 4 Speed Manual Transmission.

62J:

62 = Rockwell model F106 Single Speed Rear Axle / 6.20-1 / 15,000 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

J = Ford 5,000 lbs. Capacity Front Axle with Power Steering.

21,700 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

A68009:

A6 = FoMoCo of Canada Ltd., Western Lincoln-Mercury Division, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

8009 = Domestic Special Order number, truck ordered special by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

*When there is no COLOR code stamped on the Warranty Plate, the vehicle was painted a non standard color per the original purchasers order, making it a Domestic Special Order.

Please ask further questions in the LARGE TRUCK forum, most members of this forum have pickups.

btw: AFAIK, I'm the only member of FTE that has the 1973/79 Ford 600/900 Series Truck Parts Catalog. So I can look up any part your truck may need.

BODY code may be 4B8, TRANS code appears to be P, but the AXLE & DSO codes are suspect. I enlarged the pic, still cannot make out what the AXLE code is.

F66 = F600 4WD (gas).

D = 330 2V Heavy Duty FT engine.

V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.

V63764 = 1975.

158" Wheelbase.

COLOR: Blank.*

F660 = F600 4WD (gas), 21700 lbs. GVWR

4B?8 4B = Black Heavy Duty Vinyl / 81 = 81A Standard Cab.

P = Borg-Warner T-19 4 Speed Manual Transmission.

??J: J = Ford 5,000 lbs. Capacity Front Axle with Power Steering // ?? refers to the rear axle. It may be a single speed Rockwell, but it may not be.

21,700 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

A6?00?:

A6 = FoMoCo of Canada Ltd., Western Lincoln-Mercury Division, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

?00? = Domestic Special Order number, truck ordered special by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot." The DSO records were thrown away years ago, so it doesn't make any difference what numbers ?? are.

*When there is no COLOR code stamped on the Warranty Plate, the vehicle was painted a non standard color per the original purchasers order, making it a Domestic Special Order.

If you type the codes I cannot make out, I'll edit them into this post.

Please ask further questions in the LARGE TRUCK forum, most members of this forum have pickups and only one FTE member has a parts catalog that covers your truck. Guess who this is.

I decode 99% of the Warranty Plates here on FTE, I'm 74 years old, had cataract surgery in the 1990's, have a 27" monitor and just bought new glasses, but try as I might, there are some things I cannot read.

Sorry about that, I guess I can blow the picture up on my side a bit clearer! Im guessing the forum knocks the picture size and clarity down too. But here is what I can pull from it!

F66DVV63764
158
F660
4B8
P62J
A68009

I will also try and figure out where the heavy truck one is. I’m pretty bad at this internet stuff but I’m figuring it out slowly. Thanks for the help so far
