I went to the store, 16 mile city. 8 miles was 4WD. Then South on 301, got stuck in traffic. Nice Bridge was down to one lane. Traffic through Dalgren. Took VA 17, and was doing 68 on that except Tappahannock, VA Back to 68 again. Had to drop to 56 North of Gloucester, VA. This is a high State Police patrol area. After I stopped at a couple lights, it flipped to 24 mpg. I just think it's amazing a truck this big, S Crew, FX4 can get that kind of gas milage. In Williamsburg it dropped to 19.6 mpg, that was all city. BTW If you are ever down that way and want the best Fried Oysters, try Yorktown Tavern on the water front.
My 2016 5L gets 21 with the cruise set at 65. It's around 24 if I can keep it at 55, but that rarely happens.
Both were supercrew, both were 4x4, and both had the V8. I don't know why the 2016 got much worse gas mileage than the 2012. Yes, I got 24 mpg in the 2012 and that was going 55 mph.
I think it was because the shell on my 2016 really made a big impact on gas mileage, I watched it drop from 22 to 18.
