Top side creeper

Looking for recommendation. Amazon has the 190 dollar version and the 243 dollar? Traxion 3-100 (193, with prime shipping)? Is the Pro worth extra 50 bucks?

Thanks
Tom.

I bought the 3-700, and this is why I like it better:
  • It folds up flat. I lean it against the wall with my ladder, and pop it up in 30 seconds when needed.
  • It's adjustable height from stock 150 size to lifted Superduty size.
  • It's really portable, I wheeled it out to the bed of Frankenstinky yesterday to take it to Stinky. It was a total non-event.
  • The legs make way more sense for working around wheels.
  • The top cushion is more comfortable on your arms than the 3-100 - it doesn't cut off your circulation.
  • The cord/hose organizer on the side is a nice touch.
If you really want to save money on purchase alone, you can try an existing step ladder with the 3-120, but don't send the ambulance bill to me.

I need to quit asking!! Not sure where I saw the 243 deal, so I bought the darn 700 anyway. If I was that worried about money I would keep using and cussing my cardboard and foam "exercise pad".

My neighbors, my brother-in-law (who owns 3 Superdutys), and my co-workers are jealous of me with my new toy. Everybody who sees it asks "Where'd you get THAT?"

Although I would dearly enjoy having the 700... I really do not even want to need to be under the hood long enough to justify it. I'm still choosing to just "get by" with my scrap bed comforters and front tow hook platform.

Like Pete, I used a homemade tow hook platform for years, but now I use the Ranch Hand grille guard I installed.

Works well enough for me and even goes on the road with the truck.

Talking Traxion 3-100 is pretty good

I bought the Traxion 3-100 and use it often. It takes a bit to get it where you need it to be (unless the tires/wheels are already off!) but once set, it's a beast! I like everything about it except it doesn't fold up enough for my taste. It'll fold as designed but you're still left with 'outriggers' sticking out as well as the pad area. If you're like me and cramped for space, storage can be a challenge. I end up taking out the 'pad' portion that frees up a little more space so it sits a bit closer to the wall when stored. You won't be disappointed and you'll save some coin in the process...to spend on your 7.3! Good luck!

Well, after a really tough shakedown yesterday top side creeper works pretty good. Turbo r&r and new up pipes made it worth it, but hard to find good height when putting back together. Reaching all the way to the back of turbo, aligning the pin, etc. still had me unbalanced and really reaching. Might be better with a lifted truck, but the height that I used to remove everything had to be lowered for install. This thing will be great for just about anything else under the hood, aligning the collector pin and getting that v clamp on will always be a pita. Most likely will add a couple of extra holes and a bigger pad area.
One other thing I bought was a Neiko 40447A Rechargeable Work Light. LED, spring tension adj to hood width, puts out great light under hood, and stays out of the way. Can't get good light under the cowl, but can't hardly see back there anyway. Amazon, 80 bucks. (I am not a paid endorser)

I too have a 3-100. The floor of the garage is kept clear when not in use by storing it like this:

I have been loving my 3-100 for about 5 years now. Irreplaceable at my house.

Thank for the picture. I really need to do something for me. I hate laying on the engine even with pads.

You can't go wrong with either version. The topside creeper is a lifesaver. I was beginning to develop a chronic dimple in my chest from laying on top of the engine before I bought my creeper.
