Hi, so I posted a thread last month about purchasing a F250 and I finally did last weekend!
2012 F250 6.2 with 98k miles and it drives so good.
I am new to SD trucks and I had no idea what - + with switch was, I accidentally put TBC gain all the way up to 10.0
Now it shows TBC Gain = 10.0 No trailer (I don't have a trailer) and I can't lower it. I tried to hold, press - button numerous time and it won't come down but stuck at 10.0.
Since I've never towed anything in my life, I honestly don't know what TBC does and I drove home unloaded with TBC gain 10.0.
Any way to lower it to 0.0? Do I have to replace some parts to do so (is something broken?)? Is it dangerous to drive like that?
If you have no trailer attached, it doesn't matter what the TBC gain is set. It does not affect your truck brakes. It only applies to the braking signal sent to a trailer when a trailer is attached.
Like ^^^ says, hasno effect if you don’t have a trailer hooked up.
If it bugs you looking at it, you can just pop the tbc out snd unplug it.
For what it’s worth, a “10” setting means your trailer brakes would come on real strong. You would increase the tbc setting the heavier your load is.
If you’re pulling an empty trailer, for example, and had it set on “10”, your trailer brakes would probably lock up when you barely touch the brakes In that case, you’d set it to 2 or something.
I always test it when I first drive off with the trailer - loaded or unloaded - by driving about 20 feet and hitting the brakes firmly to feel if the trailer is pushing or locking up
What above said. Mine is on 10 and pull trailer but it's not that heavy, think trailer brakes need adjusting. The Ford doesn't work like aftermarket, they work so smooth you hardly can tell it's working, nice smooth stops.
