Well, I don't want to suggest you do that because I can't tell you how to wire it in. I have a 66 with a 75 engine. The PO had left the old points distributor in the engine, and I decided to replace it the DS system. I could never get a 6 wire module to work on it. I eventually got the 7 wire one, for the 75 module, and managed to figure it out with a wiring diagram. It worked but it was not a genuine ford module and would get hot so the stuff it's filled with was melting an dripping. Pretty common problem apparently. Eventually I removed the module and distributor, point the old points distributor back and replaced the points with a Petronix unit. Never regretted it. My advice: you can get the 7 wire module but I do not recall how to wire it in and can't help you with that. Unless you get a genuine Ford module which may not be easy, you may not be happy in the long run anyway. You could consider a points distributor and a pertronix unit. Superior in my view to the early DS system, especially without the genuine parts.
I do recall this much: that wiring in that 75 module involved connecting the red, white and blue wires to the start side of the solenoid switch, the run post of the ignition switch, and the green wire off the voltage regulator. I figured it out from a 1975 wiring diagram and I know longer know where that is, and don't remember which of the three wires went where.
I hooked the red wire to a 12v source coming off the coil, and the white wire to 'cranking' position, as I believe its supposed to retard the ignition to make starting easier.
Should I go back and get the blue grommet module?
Double check you have 12V on the red wire. They put a resistor in that one to lower the voltage on point ignition.
I was thinking about changing my 69 390 to a duraspark 1? My understanding I had to get an early model 1975 distributor for it to work.
I am using an electronic pick-up in my points distributor probably is a petronix but I don't remember put it in back in 2005-6, has been running fine with it.
I think what I wanted to do was to get my truck to start easier, faster, etc.

To each his own, but I'd stick with the current setup, especially if it has the petronix upgrade.
