So I have recently had a front winch bumper fab'd and installed. Love the results of the new bumper but I have an aesthetic issue plaguing my overall satisfaction. Now this is simply an issue of appearance so I am wondering if a simple radiator skid plate might hide the problem. The issue was that the old, stock bumper wrapped around the front and "hid" the front spring hanger. Now the new bumper cuts higher and shows the front hanger bracket loud and proud. Don't like it, so I ask you all if you know of any custom or off the shelf skid plate that might bolt up to the front hanger and hide it?
I am always faced with this because all my trucks get modified including my Ex and while I have built aluminum skid plates to cover up the unsightly under-bits that is somewhat complicated and expensive, Another easy option is to clean everything very well and paint it all Satin Black.
I get carried away and start at the fuel tank cover and do everything from the axles and leaf springs to the inner fender liner and steering gear.
but in your case just start with the bits you see, inner fender liner, frame under wheel well, bumper brackets, ect.
once everything is satin black it will all blend in and look much better.
A proper job will leave a few details unpiainted or painted a different color to drawn attention to the those details and not to the unsightly bits. In your case don’t paint the shocks, consider painting the brake calipers red, That will make the bumper bracket unnoticeable. Painting the front diff cover to match the brake calipers has a similar effect for the front view but then the eye is really drawn to the axle so it has to all be painted satin black.
or build a skid plate / cover but the wheel wells still look unsightly un painted.
I took that thing off when I installed my brush guard. My new hangers did dn’t have a place to mount them like the old ones. I think it’s called a bash bar.
