Anyone have the actual dimensions of the 57-60 long bed? inside and outside? I'm coming up with different numbers depending on where I measure from..
for example, the inside width at the cab is 1/4" less than at the tailgate... with the correct dimensions, I should be able to match it to an existing bed size and then get a single piece lockable cover... hopefully with only minor modifications.
the other idea is to use a tool box and then an L-Channel sealed against the back of the tool box and go with a soft roll up or bi/tri fold hard cover.
I plan on taking a journey in this '57 the end of may along historic route 66 from the end at Santa Monica pier to at least Amarillo...
Okay... here is my plan... aluminum tool box for the first 19 to 20 inches of the bed near the cab (not a low profile type) then an L-channel bracket that will create a water tight seal against the tool box and act as the front of the bed lip. this leaves roughly 6.5 feet of bed space to cover with lifting tonneau.
Nobody says they make a lifting tonneau for 57-60s style-side... hwoever Extang makes a full tilt-tonneau cover for the 1961 F100 truck (it is a soft vinyl snapped onto lifting metal frame) for both 6-1/2 and the 8 foot styleside beds. $429.00
My question is are the dimensions of the 57-60 F100 style side beds the same as the 61's? i though i had read somewhere on here the NumbersDummy pointed out they were the same beds from the 3rd gen used on the 4th cab models... i.e. wrong beds.
In the interest of time (our route 66 trip is next week) i don't have time to make my own cover... so ALL HELP is appreciated.. .if I can get the answers and they are in our favor, i can get this thing delivered by the weekend.

1957/60 F100/350 Styleside beds installed on the following 1961/66's. Called the "wrong" beds by 1961/66 enthusiasts, because the bed lines don't match the cab lines.
