Hey guys I’m tearing into my 79 f-100 and I just found these parts laying on top of the engine. Can anyone help me with what they are and where they go.
Both are emissions related. The first is a diverter valve and the second one is a check valve. Both are part of the air injection system. This system injects air into the exhaust stream to help burn off any unburned fuel.

They go into either the trash , or into a box where you keep all the stuff you took off the truck. You don't need 'em...remove the smog pump too. Probably doesn't work anymore anyway. My smog pump/diverter seem to work but I'm pretty sure my exhaust check valve is shot, when I tested it, it lets exhaust back through (it's supposed to be one way). And Oriellys wants $26 just for that valve. I'm thinking I just don't need it, instead.
The first pic looks an awful lot like a Diverter Valve, which routes air from the smog pump to either the exhaust ports, or downstream into the exhaust, probably past the catalytic converter. Diverter Valve will have an inlet from the pump, and two outlets.
The second pic is of a hose with a check valve in the end. Pretty sure the check valve is keeping fresh air out of the hose, and if there were anything pressurizing the hose, the check valve would let it out. So I'm guessing that the check valve was attached to either a tube which bolts to the backs of the heads, or to one of those spider-looking deals which inject the air into the manifolds, rather than the heads.
The third pic I can't tell what it is. It looks like an exhaust manifold with a dump-pipe on it...
Ah, forgot to mention, if you have a catalytic converter than actually you need to keep the smog pump or you'll burn out your cat. Cat needs fresh oxygen to do its job
