Hello there I have a 1990 F2 50 4 x 4 with a 460 the symptoms are with my E4 OD automatic transmission which will randomly blow oil out of the front seal by the bell housing upon removal of the transmission I could see a slight walk out of the trans pump bushing as well as the overdrive snap ring just fell out of transmission after I pulled coast drum out I was able to drive the truck previous of the removal everything seemed fine to me aside from the fluid leak randomly can I be correct in assuming that because that snap ring was not in place my overdrive was slipping/not functioning properly and would cause the trains to get hot whenever the fluid would leak I would stop the truck check the fluid never let it get low in the color of the fluid now is as if it was just rebuilt yesterday looking for any information or tips that could keep me from going deeper into the transmission I have read that they snap ring coming free is called in but the symptoms of that snap ring coming free I don’t No I don’t want to re-install transmission and less I know it’s going to cure the leak so in short if that snap ring comes loose off the overdrive piston would that cause fluid to **** out the bell housing area inspection hole Everything in the transmission pump looks good no seals were broken there’s no maring or scoring anywhere that I can see The drain back hole has been over drilled and the drain back valve is for removing and not melted in pump
