Fan Shroud source

Hi all,
I've never had a fan shroud for my engine, since my '81 was originally non-A/C (so it just came with the little finger guard).

However, now that my 300 has been transplanted into my '85, and has A/C, it needs a shroud. With the A/C on, the air from the vents warms up at stop lights, and the engine temps creep up. I know it's nothing to be concerned about, but its' been upwards of 205 - 210° on an 85° day when the A/C is on, whereas it's normally between 190 and 195°. I imagine it would be even hotter with our 100 - 115° days we can get in the summer.

Does anyone know where to find a fan shroud for this?
As far as I know, the shroud is different for the 300, than the 302/351 since they use different radiators. I can't seem to find one online anywhere though, so didn't know if anyone knew a source, or what the original part number is.

Thanks for the help!

I'm trying to see how to do a "mention" to someone so that they just get a PM. Have you done that before?

Yes. Click on the person's name and select "send a PM".

There's a way of sending a mention to someone. They'll get a PM that they've been "mentioned" in a thread, and then they can click on the link and go straight to the thread.
It's a little different than a direct PM. I've had a mention sent my way once or twice, but no idea how to do it.

Edit: Looks like this forum calls it "tagging" and will tell them they've been tagged.

How does your radiator bolt in?
I have a post on what I had to do for my 81with a 300 & AC as no one listed one.
I cant remember who all I checked with and who I get it from so will try and find the post.

up date here is the link to the write up sorry about the pictures.
I lost my domain name and working on getting the new domain name linked to where the pictures are hosted.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...0-300-six.html
BTW I bought 2 shrouds as they were like $20 each so I figured I could make 1 that works from 2 but did not need to go that way.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
The 81 and 85 are completely different. The 81 radiator has clamps that press down from the top where as the 85 has tabs/holes on the side and it bolts into the radiator support.

I found one at the junk yard today that looks like it'll fit. It had a v8 but the radiator looked the same. I have to take the radiator out to install it though.

I can hear it.

1980/84 F100/350 300 I-6 with A/C & Super Cooling radiators // 1982 F100 300 I-6 with Standard & Xtra Cooling radiators with Pony Option.

Thank you sir! However, this would be for a 1985 F-truck/Bronco, when they redesigned the front radiator support and radiator.
I think all of the radiators were the same dimension at this point (as opposed to the 21 3/4" vs 27 3/4" widths), but mine is a 2 row as opposed to a 1 row.

The one I picked up at the yard yesterday was a E5TA-8146-UA. So, the year is correct (85), but it was off of a V8 truck. I don't know if they're the same.
I have to drain the coolant and remove the radiator to install it, so I'd rather know it's correct before I dive in.

I build radiator fan shrouds for custom installations. Worst case - you could have one made for your combo.
The way I do it is to cut out a plywood circle one inch in diameter bigger than your fan and bolt it on in place of your fan. That gives me a starting point to start the shroud. I wrap a band of metal around the plywood and work my magic from there. If you go the custom route that is how I recommend you start. It will place the opening in the proper location and angle.

A fan shroud increases the cooling system capability by about 10%.

You rang? Lurch (Ted Cassidy) lived in Santa Monica Canyon just south of Sunset Blvd. His name, address and phone number were listed in the westside telephone book.

It wasn't long before people were ringing his door bell and when he opened the door, they yelled YOU RANG? He got so fed up with this...that he sold his house and moved.

You are right on how the radiators bolt in between the years.
But if you look my post over I think I used a 95 shroud on my 81.
I think all shrouds fasten the same over the years but the sizes changed a little.
To make my shroud fit up tight to the radiator I had to trim off about a 1/4" on each side and it fit like a glove.

Part of the issue you may run into with a v8 shroud is hose placement and if the fan hole is off set or not. That is why I stayed with a six cylinder shroud.

Staying with the six shroud I measured my radiator then checked all the shroud I could find that came close.
At the time I did not know how the attached to the radiator as I had nothing to go by.
But after using the one I got (think for a 95+ truck) it looks like they all attach the same.
Also as said for the money I got 2 to make 1 that would work but never opened the box. Saving for my next project.

NPD = Radiator Shroud Fan Shroud Repro F5TZ-8146-C #F-8146-18 FOR 1995-1996 Ford Truck
fitted to
Rock Auto = Radiator SPECTRA PREMIUM CU558 27-1/2" Core Length w/ Air Conditioning or Heavy Duty Cooling
used in a 81 F100 with a 300 six with factory air.
2 pictures of mine
You can see the lips on the outside that I had to trim to get the shroud to sit on the radiator. You can also see the fan is off set in the shroud I don't know if it is on a v8 shroud?

Here you can see the new radiator & shroud installed in the truck.
Note: the shroud uses 2 bolts at the top and slips into 2 clips on the bottom.

Again 81 radiator and 95/96 shroud so I am thinking the shrouds all install the same way.
