So my ignition is super hard to turn. I can turn it and start the truck and shut it off but it is tough to do and takes a decent amount of force to turn the key. Any ideas as to what it might be? It moves and will start but shutting it off and turning it on is really tough.
i had that same problem and i replaced the ign locking cylinder, took about two or three minutes. disconnect the battery , turn the key to run and up underneath the colum there is a small hole put a pin punch or allen wrench in there and you will find a button and push that button and pull your locking cylinder out then you can clean your old one woth wd40 or buy a new one for about 20 bucks or so and pop it back in and try it out. it worked on my 95 f-150. the only problem is your door lock and ign lock will have different keys.
about 20 bucks is right for a new ign cylinder lock. really easy to change out. I replace mine in my 93 about 4 months ago cuz it was just slap wore out. May be able to lube yours, I'd give that a shot. Literally a 10 minute maximum job to change one out or pull one and reinsert it.
Three screws hold the lower half of the steering column cover on. makes it a bunch easier to hit the release pin if you remove that, but it can be done also without removing the cover.
