Anyone every shave/file down the steering stops on the axle?

Sure there would be binding in real tight turns with the 4WD engaged but hell, we already get that. Guess maybe hitting the springs would be a problem though.

When I pull into a parking lot I look at it like a battle field and start planning a Strategic route to get in and out, like everyone said you will get used to it.

haroutd, no you are NOT the only front puller-in-er... hahhaa...

though i've always prided my ability to do outstanding proper parallel parking (backing in), i often find myself so lazy as to do the 'over-the-curb, tire-bounce-up/down-er' trick, and end up perfect as can be. i love it! -- is like the "perfect airport pick-up" (ref. seinfeld). of course, AMPLE space is required to pull this off.

funnier yet, until last monday (when i picked up my new F250), i pulled this manuever off in my '98 Merc Grand[pa] Marquis. talk about funny looks!!! (i'm 3/4 y/o -- no wonder i bought a truck!).

peace.

Thanks all for the advice, but I think I am going to look into grinding, linkage or what ever. There has to be a way to squeeze more turn out of the front end. I'll let you know what I come up with. I feel like Austin Powers turning the golf cart around in the hallway. I call it "Doing the Austin Powers".

For the LENGTH of my Ex, it actually has a pretty good turning radius...

And I ALSO back into spots... especially with the rear parking sensors, it's easier to know when I'm 'there' !

There are aftermarket backup sensors available. And they're not as costly as I would have thought. Just something to consider...

thx h.

yeah, i'll look into it. i'm sure all the hoidy-toidy car drivers in the parking lots would appreciate it.

am apprehensive about dumping TOO much cash money into this truck, since its only a 2-yr lease. i already plan for the Truxedo T-cvr (per your advice from another thread), and likely an Add-On keypad.

(only real possiblity would be to TAKE these add-on items w/ me when i lease my MY2005 F250 in 2 yrs eh????... then again in MY07????)...

Here is a link to a backup up sensor that Harbor Freight sells for only $35. I bought it and mounted it in the front of my truck so I can have a better sense of how close I am to the little cars in front of me in parking lots. It's still work in progress, I need to set the sensors a little better. I am going to try and place them on the licence plate frame. I have the factory rear ones and it's great. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=40113 I mounted a rocker switch (radio shack - $3)under the dash to turn it on and off when needed.

You don't need to place a switch on the rear sensor system, you tie it into your back up lights. I only placed the switch for the front because it sounds off much to often. Part of my problem, I think, is that I didn't mount the sensors as straight as the instructions indicated. I didn't think is was going to be that picky. I am going to mount them on the license plate frame and I think it will work better.

I don't know about these trucks but....

On some big rigs the stops are adjustable.

I guess you could buy one of them there new chebbys with the rear steering.
But their will be the downsides,You won't have a real truck & everyone will laugh when they walk the dog on you

You will get used to it just allow a little more room.

Yep. they don't turn too well in tight places like parking lots. I have to plan where to park so I can get out without tearing up the cars next to me. Pullimg out of side streets without going over the curb is tough if the goal is to stay within one lane of traffic. I just accept it as the price we pay for the payload and traction.

Plan ahead, learn to walk from way out in the parking lot or carry a motorcycle like a dinghy in the back. Just kidding.
