they do make a 215/75/15-sorry I did not mean to hijack thread
No hijack in my opinion however, I am not the original OP of this thread. It is all tire related. In regards to your tire size suggestion I think it would be too small for the size of truck it is supporting. The series number 75 or 85 as spoken of in this thread is the aspect ratio. This is a comparison of the width of the tire to its overall height. I am far from a bias ply guy but those tires were tall and narrow.
I'm running 265/70/15's on my 66 F100, on 15x8 Black Rock rims, with manual steering and it drives great, now granted, just like all our old trucks with manual steering, if your moving, the turning is easier.

I run 235/75/R15 on the style short bed. Absolutely no problem with clearance. AND it is lowered 3" in the front and 5" in the back to make it level.
However, I did change the rims to accommodate the wider radials. AND, , years ago when I changed to this size R, it was widely talked about not only accommodating for the wider tires, but also the possible lack of strength with the bias style rims. R tires have added stress factors from what some of the articles talked about and the possibility of cracking bias rims. Since I was changing to the slightly wider rim,I went ahead and switched to R rims.
Now don't shoot me over my research. Just a factor you might think about. I'm sure there is info out there for your own search.
I think Bill talked about this some years ago.
