I'm negotiating the purchase of a '71 F100. It will come with a new windshield to replace the cracked one currently in place, and a dash pad for the same reason.
Can I replace the dash pad without removing the windshield? That would allow me to do the former and then take it to a shop and let them wrestle with the windshield.
Also, the truck has power brakes but not power steering. How tricky is that upgrade?
Yes, from my experience, the dash pad is bolted in place and possibly glued. But replacing it does not require the windshield to be removed. Getting to the bolts may require the removal of the glove box, radio, and instrument panel.

First of all, the job is a real pain if you have large hands. I have a 1972 Ford F250. What made it easier I removed instrument cluster, radio and glove box to access every thing. The radio, speaker and glove box were original to the truck. The glove box pretty much fell apart when I took it out. LMC has reproductions that are true to original construction. The AM radio was not working all that great and speaker was trashed. I replaced the radio with a retro radio and a new speaker. The new AM/FM radio works great.plus it has options to add bass, MP3, etc. Now I'm adding a digital instrument cluster from Dakota Digital. New TMI seats will be next on the list, then I think I will be done for this year..
I did one a long time ago. I painted the interior while I had it out. As said, everything has to come out of the dash anyway to get at the nuts. I'll be doing the same thing on my '72.
