Amp Issue

Why would my amp not be turning off? I had it wired so it would shut off with the radio when I open the doors but it's been staying on lately and draining my battery.

Can you answer a few questions for me?

What year and model is your truck?
Factory or aftermarket radio?
What kind of line out converter if the radio is factory?
What kind of interface if the radio is aftermarket?
What kind of amp?
What wire did you tap into for the remote lead (door trigger power you mentioned)?

What is the line out converter?
The amp is a power acoustik rzr1-2500d.
I'm not sure which wire is tapped into for the remote lead.

A line out converter is what is normally used with a factory radio to connect the RCA's to an aftermarket amplifier. It has a left and right that usually tap into the rear speakers. It then converts that signal to a RCA low level signal. A benefit of using one is that most of them also provide a remote turn on wire for the amp. Something like this.

Your amplifier has high level inputs and may not necessarily have an LOC or RCA's for input. If you do have RCA's then there is more than likely a converter somewhere. I would ensure the remote lead is connected to it if there is a remote turn on. If it is, then the converter could be malfunctioning and keeping the remote live when the truck is turned off. I would move it using the add a circuit below.

It sounds like your remote lead is connected to something that is not turning off with the truck. If you have a multimeter check the remote power voltage after you have turned off the truck. If it still has power, then you need to find a different place to connect it to.

If there is no LOC and you need to change the remote wire tap location, a good way to do it would be to use an add a circuit at the fuse panel. You would just use this to connect to an accessory circuit and connect your remote wire to the crimp connector. The remote lead is a very low power wire. A 5 Amp fuse should be fine.

Hope this helps you out.

I moved my fuse tap to a different place and I think that fixed the issue.
