2011 F250 turbo oil leak

Hello all,

So my 2011 F250 appears to be leaking oil from the infamous fitting below the turbo, I can see a puddle under the turbo and around the fitting, it’s running down onto the passenger side of the oil pan. After doing a lot of research it seems it’s best to replace the coolant line as well. Parts seem relatively inexpensive I’m just wondering if it’s a task that can be performed by a weekend warrior? There is a ton of crap in the way to hardly even see down there. Not sure what it would cost to have a shop do it? Has anybody done this repair or had it done? Tips and tricks for the diy’er or what you paid at a shop would be helpful! Also is there anything else in the area that is prone to leaking? I’m pretty confident that is what it is due to the puddles and fresh oil nothing leaked up until I pulled my trailer a short distance, I’m thinking the higher boosts maybe contributed?

Local shop said about $300 or so to replace that fitting and the coolant fitting. Anybody with experience on the fix? I’m willing to do it myself just not too sure on the complexity.

I paid $302 just for the turbo coolant line repair at a dealer a few years ago. It went to a rapid leak fairly quickly.

I haven't had the turbo oil leak (yet) but $300 to do both is a good deal based on my experience. Plus the correct coolant. Or if you haven't changed the coolant in a long time, might be a good time to do that as well. I should have switched to the local diesel shop instead of the dealer earlier.

Is the oil dripping to the ground and is the leak obvious without removing anything? I ask because I discovered mine was missing a quart of oil two weeks ago after 5,000 miles since changing. A quart leaking externally should be obvious. I have glanced in areas topside and then crawled around under and I cannot find a visible oil leak. There isn't oil on the ground, even if it cold soaks for a week. I pulled the CAI to look at the fresh air side of the turbo, pulled the CAC pipe to check in that area for excessive oil and those inside areas where no worse than two years previous when I had that apart to replace a failed CAC pipe. The last leak was from the vacuum pump, it had leaked down the front and oil was splattered all over the underside of the truck so made it obvious I had an issue. I didn't think about this specific issue.

It actually is dripping to the ground, but seems to only drip if I’m parked on an incline, I guess my thought was it’s pooling up in the valley and when I park up hill it runs out. But yes I can see it, I had to go to the passenger side of the truck and look down below the turbo with a flashlight. There is oil all over this fitting and a puddle underneath it.

A couple years ago the dealer replaced the turbo coolant line under warranty, two days later the oil line started leaking so back to the dealer it went. It was too much of a coincidence for it to immediately start leaking so I was expecting them to repair the new leak on their dime, nope, said it wasn't covered under warranty and wanted $300 to repair. Long story short, I ended up doing it in my driveway in about an hour. Not very difficult and pretty straight forward. The 3/8" Jiffy-Tite tool, about $15, will make removal of the fittings much easier.
