Oil leak from turbo pedestal

hey guys, i bought a 02 f250 about a month ago. I love the truck so far only thing is it had a oil leak shortly after. It looked like it was leaking from the front and back of oil pan. It would leave about a 50 cent size oil mark on the ground. It was still under the 30 day buyers guide warrenty. So i was finally able to get it in today. The guy called me back saying it was leaking from the turbo pedestal and that he also said the back tubes need to be replaced. I could tell if he said back tubes or cat or cack. I couldnt hear him well. So my question is would a oil leak from the turbo pedestal leak down onto the oil pan then leak onto the ground? thanks

yup....think the "back tubes" he's referring to, are the up-pipes, from manifold to turbo. Those are known to leak, the seals go bad.

Sounds like you are getting some good warranty done for free.

With the age of your truck, the Fuel Bowl o-rings will start leaking at the water/fuel drain and/or fuel bowl heater connection. This is not a major worry and is a very easy repair if you notice it. What you will see (with the fuel bowl plastic cover off) is an oily/fuel mess (small) on the back side of your fuel bowl and what looks like leaking oil in the 'valley'. It took me about 3 hours of slow going to clean my fuel bowl and replace the o-rings. Here is where you can get what you need if/when you have a problem down the road.

I thought it was a good warranty deal too! And as for the fuel bowl I havent noticed it getting messy. But i did notice at the end of the small pipe where you drain the water/fuel had a little bit of wetness on there. I havent seen any leaks on the ground from that though. Im also getting 16 mpg so i dont believe the o rings are bad yet. Thanks for the tips though for the future.

I figured I would give an update on the oil leak. I picked the truck up today and they replaced the turbo pedestal and lower cac tubes. $1223 total, mostly all parts the turbo pedestal was 765 alone. But it was covered under my 30 day warrenty which ended on Monday ( the day I brought it in). So I drove it home and checked for leaks right away since it was an hour drive. It looked like it was still leaking. So I cleaned everything off in case it was excess oil fromit leaking before. I will be driving it to work tonight so when I get home I will put a white pad underneath it to see if its still leaking.hopefully its not still leaking. otherwise I have to go back and explain they never fixed the proper thing leaking from when it was under warrenty.

take a flashlight, mirror..etc, whatever you can, to help look at "what" was on the receipt/paperwork, as to what they replaced, and see if it was. Pedastals' a givin, looking from the passenger side. The lower cac tubes, take a gander at them, if they're clean/new looking, can see those as well....

I didn't get to look at the cac pipes. But its definitely not leaking as bad as before.there is still oil dripping down the lower radiator hose but not as bad. Before oil was all over underneath and from what I can see now is oil on the driverside of oil pan. Where if you look up from underneath I see some oil on a wire connection and small copper looking pipes.
