I purchased a 2019 F350 CCLB last week, and while underneath it this afternoon I noticed that the coating applied to the rear axle is peeling. I'm assuming based on the shape of these areas of missing protective coating this occurred while moving the axle during assembly.
Should I be concerned about long term rust/corrosion issues in these areas and should I be making an issue of this with the dealer? My 2017 F250 does not have any areas of missing or peeling coating.
Normal---some of mine is gone. 18 with 26k on it so far. It worries you from an aesthetics point of view just paint over it with some spray epoxy black paint or undercoating as suggested above.
Yup same here. I have rust spots.already after a few months but that's bare steel in the salt belt for ya. Give it a few years and I expect my entire frame and everything else will be rust. But I already knew that. Itll look like every other truck I've had up here in the north.
Not impressed looking under my 19 either. Front drive shaft and a lot of the exhaust are rusty. Ford has has this problem for a lot of years.
I'm used to a rusty undercarriage but I will tell you my exhaust with 1 winter and 1900 miles looks like complete crap vs my 06 2500 with 135k miles.... the silverado exhaust looks 10xs better.
