Wire type?

What kind of wire would I need to splice in a new UVCH pigtail? I know I need to match the gauge of wire but what type of insulation does the wire need to have?
The wires running to the pigtail I am replacing has had the insulation dissolve and bare wires are exposed giving me all kinds of problems (engine running on one bank of cylinders as far as I can tell, new Motorcraft CPS, ICP and four new glowplugs, new UVCH). So I need to cut out more wire than what comes on the replace my pigtail and I don’t know what type to use. Any help is appreciated.

For small jobs like that I would just go to a junk yard and cut some wire in the engine bay. As long as the gauge is the same I'm sure the rating would be high temp also. That's what I've done in the past.

When you solder on the new pigtail, use a long piece of heat shrink tubing to cover the bare wire where the covering is gone.
