mine got yanked off under the truck tried to wire them back but the wire on it was actual wire (one strand ) do I need that kind of wire? I trie to use regular wire but still not working and can I wire it up backwards... the gauge is a vdo and was on truck when bought and worked....
It can be wired backwards, but you can't use regular copper wire. You need thermocouple wire for the type of thermocouple you have. Probably a k type. A pyro works because of the dissimilar metals in the 2 leads.
different companys ma have different set ups but my ats pyro wires got damaged and I used about 6in of regular high curret sterio wire it was 10 or 11 gauge I think.the same stuff I used for my push button starter in the cab.it works great
Hm, I'd just call the manufacturer or www.egauges.com and get the proper length of the proper wire. A type K thermocouple's wires are chromel and alumel. Its not gauge or manufacturer specific, its thermocouple specific. If its a type K, the wire jackets should be a yellow and a red.
A type J would have a white and a red.
