Loosing Coolant

With my signature vehicle, I'm loosing coolant. There is no evidence of external leakage, but a drive of 175 miles the degas tank went down about 3/4 of the way. Can anybody tell me what and how I should proceed to determine where its going? I used to have oil in coolant, and had the injector cups replaced with no problems since until now. Can somebody tell me what are the possible causes and how to troubleshoot it?
Thanks in advance.

Try a new cap on the degas bottle; under $10. Worked for me.

Have you checked your oil dipstick to see if it's ending up in the oil pan?

I know fuel can get into the coolant from a cracked or otherwise leaking injector cup, but I didn't think oil could get to the coolant that way.

BWST,

Yes, perhaps I'm remembering it wrong. I do remember that it would exude huge clouds of white smoke when first started. Thanks for responding.

Seville,

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that. Was the water leaking out through the cap? I know the system is supposed to be some pressurized, but don't understand how the cap could cause it.

couldn’t see any leaks anywhere; just had to keep adding coolant. Searched for answers and saw on here that the pressure caps can go bad and cause it, so decided to try it and it worked; no more loss. Put new caps on all my vehicles after seeing that. Cheap and easy fix. Caps are available at any parts store. They’re pressure caps that just wear out I guess

Got it solved! First, thanks to y'all who responded. Turns out it was a cracked, leaky tank. Apparently, it would leak down to below the crack, then stop leaking and all the evidence would evaporate before I reached my destination. Again, thank you for your help.

I'll be damned. It's often right under our nose, isn't it? I'd be interested to know where the crack was if you can describe it or post a picture. If original, it served a pretty long life. How many miles on your rig?

Yes, I'm very grateful to have found and fixed it. A new degas tank was $65 from Autozone. The truck has about 146K miles. I bought it in 2008 with 86K on it. I mainly only use it for towing our fifth wheel, thus the low mileage. I keep pretty good maintenance records for my vehicles, and according to them, I never replaced the overflow tank. But my faulty memory tells me I did. Oh well. And again, thanks for your input.
