rod knock?

rod knock?
i have a 73 f250 with a 360 in it. i recently did the rear main seal along with new oil pump (stock flow). I got the truck a couple weeks ago have not really drove it due to the fact when i got it the exhaust was rusted out.. so im not sure when i ran it before i did the work to it if it had a knocking in the motor due to the exhaust being so loud. i did all the work and put some new exhaust on it and now that i can hear the motor sure sounds like a rod knock to me. from what i can tell with out digging to far into it sounds like its passenger side. sounds like its in the front cylinders also sounds like its kind of a high knock by the head maybe. just looking for a little clarification if that is a rod knock or something else. was try to see what a stock style engine rebuilt would cost. i appreciate any help thanks

Grab a mechanic's stethoscope from Harbor Freight and use it to pin down where the sound is coming from.
My experience with rod knock is it gets louder as you let off the gas. Like, rev up, then let off, then the knock gets louder...
But it may be hard to tell if it's just detonating or rod knock

Pull the spark plug wire from the suspected cylinder. If it's a bad rod it will quit knocking.
