How much lift?

Got a great deal on some 35's today. How much will I have to lift my bronco to run the 35's. I'm thinking that I'm running 31's now so if I add 4 more inchs of tire I need 4 inchs of lift. Why does this sound too easy? How much lift will I have to go? I don't want my tires to rub.

A 3" body will fit 33s real nice, so 4" of supension with the body will give those 35s alot of room to flex.
Good luck

35"s will "fit" with only a 4" lift. IMO, you really should lift it six if you want good steering qualities, as well as overall articulation on any sort of off-road/off-camber situations. If this is purely a 'for looks' mod, 4 should do ya.

I'd consider a 3 inch Rancho with Bushwhacker cutouts, if 35 inch tires was the end goal. You'd get good protection from mud/road debris, fantastic articulation from the Rancho suspension, and the tires would fit and look good. I went the big tires route, so that suspension wouldn't work for me. (It's still a dream though).

Are you thinking about regearing BTW? 35 inch tires is 4.11:1 or borderline 4.56:1 territory. I personally wish I had gone 4.56:1 (except when I run 33 inch radials).

Cool

i've got a 4" Rancho lift & 35s on my rig & no steering or problems off road at all. my deciding factor for the 4" lift was my garage. with the 4" lift & 35s i have only about 1" of clearance under the door.

I ran 35's with a 4" suspension lift with no problems. I put in a 3" body lift about a month ago to give them some added room. Check out my pics. I have before and after pics from the 3" body lift. Good Luck!

actually i used 1" spacer blocks & shimed the bumper forward & trimmed the plastic air dam. (although i did reset my factory turn stops out 1/16" further than stock). no fender triming, no clearance problems.

Personal opinion - stay away from the body lifts unless you are on a real budget and absolutely HAVE to have the 35's under it. They work, but gain you absolutely nothing but gaps betweeen the body and frame and silly linkage adjustments etc. But then I have always been of the mind, "If you are gonna go to all the trouble, might as well go all out"! The benefits of suspension lifts are numerous compared to body lifts. Again, just a humble opinion.

Iggy,

I'd like to see your setup too. I know 35's would be tight under mine even with the 4" lift. Just interested in see what all you did to get the "no rub" operation out of that setup.

What I have heard from several shops is that body lifts are good for unibodys, broncos, blazers, surburbans, exploders, ect.
The body lift reduces the body flex and lets the frame flex under it more, like when you bring one front wheel up onto a hill or rock your door will get closesr to the fender. I have expeirienced this.
They also rais only the litest part of your truck off the ground and therefor does not make it too much more top heavy.
Body lifts have there place but it's all opinions though.

I am not crazy about body lifts on trucks by an means. I'm a full believer that suspension articulation is a much more important factor in a truck to be used off road, than simple altitude. Keeping wheels in square contact with the road surface will move you where big tires can't.

But, once you have modified the suspension with wheel travel and articulation in mind, and you still need room for more tire in order to clear the axles and running gear, cutouts and body lifts come in handy.

The only thing is doing a body lift on newer trucks is getting scary. I can remember the older trucks and "unbolt 8 bolts, place blocks, replace bolts, tighten and drive" days of simple body lifts. Now... it's getting crazy, where you need welding and cutting and fabricating.

If that's the case. Definitely start with the suspension (a good one) and fender cutouts. Then look at body.

Just my opinion though. Tires clear obstacles. Lifts create room for tires.

i have a 4 inch SUPERLIFT and a 3 inch body lift. 35's fit fine no rubbing. no garage at home so that was not a problem. i put a rack on top for camping stuff now i cant park in parking garages downtown. truck measures 6'11.5" to top of rack.

graystreak92, i think you misunderstood me, the 1" spacer blocks shimmed the bumper forward. not a body lift. i think a body lift is a cheap solution & it looks like crap.
